Largely a plantation and farm town, Falls Church was transformed when the nation’s capitol was moved to Washington DC. The large influx of transient travelers in and out of Washington helped Falls Church become more urbane in housing and retail offerings. However, Falls Church maintains its rural heritage with small touches like a Farmer's Market held every Saturday morning at the Comminity Center.
The city of Falls Church was incorporated in 1948; although this does not include all areas of Falls Church the incorporation was to create a more acclaimed school system. Falls Church is home to a large Vietnamese community that is served by the Eden Center at Seven Corners, wonderful traditional lions are placed at the gate and provide a focal point for Seven Corners.
